Grande West Now Offering CNG Bus Option
Vancouver-based Grande West Transportation specializes in economical 30- and 35-foot buses, and is now offering vehicles fueled by CNG.

Canada’s Grande West Transportation, which emphasizes “affordability, accessibility and global responsibility” for its line of 30- and 35-foot “Vicinity” transit buses, is now offering a compressed natural gas option, using the ISB6.7 G engine from Cummins Westport and Type IV CNG fuel tanks from xperion.
“We are seeing a growing demand for natural gas powered buses,” Grande West executive sales and marketing VP Jean-Marc Landry says in a release.
Each bus will employ five xperion fuel cylinders, says Grande West director John LaGourgue.
The tanks for Grande West represent “our first direct sale to the North American transit market,” xperion U.S. president Sean Ellen told F&F.
“CNG has helped transit customers meet stringent clean air requirements and is now being requested on many tenders,” Landry said, “as transit agencies move towards lower operating costs associated with CNG.”
Grande West says it has worked to engineer its CNG-powered Vicinity “using components and systems that are of the highest quality and reliability.”
